First The Airwaves, Now The Seas. Will Space Be Next For Bingo?

It is already undoubtedly one of the most popular games across the world, being played regularly in not only Europe, but also in the United States, New Zealand and South Africa, to name but a few. The advent of the worldwide web-olution created online bingo, making its boundaries obsolete. Now everybody’s favourite game is taking to the seas in the form of bingo cruises. With total world domination secured, is it out of the question to wonder whether the final frontier for bingo is out into the great beyond?

For those out there who are unsure of exactly what a bingo cruise comprises, they will be kicking themselves when they discover that it means exactly what the term implies - a cruise like any other but with the major difference of being devoted to bingo.

This is not to say that it exclusively bingo-orientated. Cruise-goers have the normal luxuries that are available on their liners, such as swimming pools, shops and cinemas whilst also being allowed to take a small slice of home with them when they play in bingo tournaments. Normally, this will mean a set number of games during each trip. For example on a four-day cruise revelers can expect up to a whopping thirty games of bingo, meaning that although the cruise ship is not exclusively devoted to it any player can devote however much of themselves and their time that they so desire. They can literally play bingo to their hearts content!

With this in mind, the recent (though long-heralded) unveiling of Richard Branson's SpaceShip Two begs the question as to whether the boss of Virgin Galactic has plans to transport one of the world's most popular games into the atmosphere. Certainly the weightlessness would not present a problem as it would with other games like chess which require pieces.

Although perhaps the common initial response would be to laugh off such a suggestion as a bizarre idea, is sending bingo into space really that strange a notion? There is a movement that exists today, led by "journal of the devious deviant clever and hateful cruel underground" Fauxy International to send human DNA into space, in the hope that as life on earth comes to an inevitable end there are traces of human life with which alien beings can revive our race. Placed in this context the idea of bingo in space does not seem so crazy.  This brings the possibility of a potentially limitless number of new bingo fans.
