Introduction to Rakeback

What is rakeback?

For some online poker players it can be the difference between winning and losing. Rakeback is a promotion offered by online poker affiliates in order to draw more traffic to the online poker site. You can benefit from it if you know how to find the best available rakeback offers.

How Does Rake Work?

Rake is the fee the online poker site charges for allowing you to play there. Since you play online poker against other players, the only way for the House to make money is through a percentage of each pot. The amount is usually around 10 percent, almost never more than three or four dollars.

It may seem like the rake takes from the winner of the pot. In reality, all players contribute to the rake in every hand that they play.

How Does Rakeback Work?

Rakeback works by returning some of that rake back into your poker account, thereby increasing your win rate. If you are already a long-term winning player, you will win more thanks to your profitable rakeback deal. If you are a break-even player, you will become a winning player.

If you are a losing player, you will lose less or possibly even break even or win. The amount of rakeback will depend on which poker room and affiliate site you choose.

How Does One Get Rakeback?

Simply go to an affiliate site and find an online poker site in which you do not already have an account. The rakeback site will list the rakeback percentage offered for each particular poker site. If you can sign up with RandomPokerSite.com, 30 percent of the rake over the course of the month’s play goes back into your account.

You must sign up for the new site through the rakeback site and you can only get rakeback for playing at that particular site. If you are a tournament player, you should also make sure that the rakeback program calculates rake and offers rakeback for tournament play.
