There is no tougher division in the NFC
and maybe no tougher division in football than the NFC East. Three of the NFC's
playoff teams came from the East last year and this year it could happen again.
Dallas is the favorite because, face it, the Cowboys are loaded and are still
getting better. The Giants are
the reigning champions, however, the loss of star defensive end Osi Umenyiora
could have Big Blue battling Philadelphia for second.
Washington will finish fourth, and for
no other reason than Jim Zorn and Jason Campbell and the newness of the system
to both.

Dallas Cowboys 2008 NFL Preview
Projected Record: 13-3
The Cowboys are odds on favorites in
the NFC, they could even win the Super Bowl. First they have to win their first
playoff game which they have not done since 1996. Tony Romo will probably have
another big year and T.O. can always find the end zone. He also has premier
tight end Jason Witten when they just need a few yards. Now they have added a
potential game breaker in Felix Jones both out of the backfield and on special
teams. The defense is going to be very fast, and Adam Jones has been reinstated
and could be a valuable addition... more
2. New York Giants 2008 NFL
Preview
Projected Record: 10-6
They almost didn't make the playoffs last year, and won the whole thing. The
Giants bring back plenty of talent although Michael Strahan has retired and
Jeremy Shockey is off to New Orleans. Eli Manning is a different quarterback,
confident and solidly the offensive leader. Brandon Jacobs spearhead a running
back by committee approach that seems to work in NY for some reason. The defense
will still get after the quarterback, and the Giants have a mental toughness
that is unmatched by any other team, including the vaunted Patriots...more

Philadelphia Eagles 2008 NFL
Preview
Projected Record:
9-7
The Eagles will look for Donovan
McNabb to stay healthy and to find a way to get some other playmakers involved
besides just Brian Westbrook. The defense will look for Asante Samuel to have a
real impact as well... more
4. Washington Redskins 2008 NFL
Preview
Projected Record:
8-8
Jim Zorn takes over and there is also
a new west coast offense for QB Jason Campbell to learn. The good news is that
he appears to have picked it up instantly and is very comfortable in it. There
is an excellent running game as long as Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts are
healthy. Then there is the defense which was very good last year and now adds
Jason Taylor to the mix. Things are looking up, but it is a transition year and
like all teams in transition there will be some bumps in the road... more |
