The Wednesday Roundup - Europe and The NBA
The NBA is going to face a hard reality soon. That
reality is that there is money over in Europe and American players are going
to be more than willing to take that money. It’s a shift that has happened
slowly but something that was destined to happen eventually....

Sports betting is an extremely fun activity if you know who’s who in the
sports world. There are many types of betting involved, which makes watching
sports turn into a
casino like environment at home because of the stakes involved. In the
United Kingdom, this has been a traditional cultural past time making the
world’s most popular sport, football / soccer the game of choice to bet on.
Research the games, and check out the stats before you play, here on

Women’s sports have been very, very slowly making
progress. My granddaughter is ten, perhaps when she’s 30 women’s team sports
may have reached the point where they are able to draw fans and generate
profit. But the going has been tough.....

Padraig Harrington looked unlikely to

in doubt. In fact, first alternate

Upon
Further Review
By: Matt Yoder
Welcome to the latest
edition of “Upon Further Review”, it’s the dead period for
football and their fans. Sure there’s OTA’s and mini-camps and
all that stuff, but how exciting are those things really? Guys
wearing shorts, no contact, veterans not doing much other than
stretching and running and having to watch rookies and guys not
good enough to make the final roster practice. Talk about a
snooze fest. BUT, the fact of the matter is it all means
football, real football, is creeping ever closer and that’s
cause for excitement in itself. With all that said, let’s take
a look at some of the happenings from around the NFL recently,
shall we?...

Speaking of Sports: TRS: The Real
Story Behind the Garza-Navarro Meeting The Tampa Bay Sports Net has in its possession the
conversations between Rays’ pitcher Matt Garza and catcher Dioner Navarro on
the mound, when Garza got a close-up look at what Navarro wears on his face,
in the dugout when they met again and in the runway leading to the visitor’s
clubhouse.
Without anyone’s knowledge, a
miniature microphone was cleverly embedded in the catcher's mask padding and
every word was heard across the Gulf of Mexico (when you are in an area
loaded with 1,000-5,000 watt radio stations, you know you can hear them
further out in the water to the west than you do over land to the east).
So without further adieu, TBSN brings
you the complete blow-by-blow from start to finish.

Thinking Out Loud: Going To Hell In
a Handbasket Almost a month ago I penned a piece about the entertainment at Tropicana
Field – (Rays Missing a Beat on In-house Fun) - and how the departure of
John Franzone, a.k.a John the Maestro, has left a huge void inside the
stadium.
Having been inside the House of the Tilted Roof this entire homestand, there
has been something else that has been gnawing at me but I just couldn't put
my finger on it until Sunday's homestand finale with the White Sox....

MLB Insider: The Call
for Instant Replay How many times have we as fans watched baseball games in
which an umpire has obviously missed a call? Personally, I’ve
run out of fingers and toes to tally up.
All of us have been subjected to
making some sort of error in the course of our lifetime – sometimes we own
up to those mistakes, sometimes we just let it go. For the most part, our
errors don’t affect the outcome that it would in a professional game.
Umpires are only humans and they too
make mistakes… but when you look at the other sports, such as the NHL, NFL,
NBA, major tennis tournaments and even the NCAA – they all use a form of
replay....

Out Loud: The Wacky World of the Steinbrenner’s
By: Ted Fleming, Tampa Bay Sports Net
Answer me this? How am I to explain
Hank Steinbrenner to my grandchildren?
It's bad enough that I raised a son
who became a Yankee fan - it was a Mets' household until I moved to Florida
to join BaysBall Nation, and the so-called smart one of the twins went to
the dark side (of New York blue) - but what's up with the new mouth of the
north?
It appears for all all intents and
purposes the little Hankie has all of his father's mouth but not the sense
of his brother Hal, the Quiet Man, a dozen years his junior.
Not one month into the season the
team's co-chairman effectively called his new manager an idiot....

The Armchair QB: A Way To Adjust The BCS Playoff
I took careful note of some of the positive things about the selection
process. They have a committee that selects the teams based on a set of
criteria. They have a “true playoff” in the form of the tournament and the
team that can win six games is crowned the champion. Could this format work
in college football. I believe it can and in the following article, I will
explain how this can be done.....

“The Heckler” on a Fan Speaks Out: Ben Wallace and Aaron Gray Interview And the man in the
middle is Ben Wallace and Aaron Gray. So far Wallace is not playing like the
guy who cost the team $60 million to pry him away from Detroit. Gray, while
looking like a possible option in the pre-season, has does nothing but
gather splinters since the season started. In this interview, Wallace
comments on the teams’ chances to make the finals and what he did to improve
in the off-season. Gray explains the difference in the pro game compared to
college and if he regrets staying an extra year in college....

addresses the issue if his hands were tied by Andy MacPhail, just what
Alfonso Soriano was promised when the Cubs signed him, his thoughts on Lou
Piniella, and what player surprised him this year....

This is my response to Jesse Jackson writing into the Chicago

In last weeks Other Views column, the Rev. Jesse Jackson

Richie Sexson of the woeful Seattle Mariners is simply the latest example of the

Recently Tiger has been roaring, dominating the PGA as if he was invincible.

Tiger is first and the same other guy is second every week. It's always someone

NBA Age Limit - A Blessing in

The 2007 NBA draft class was the most hyped and highly covered
of any draft class in the last five years and maybe even this
decade - and 9 of the 10 first picks were still teenagers.
Something very profound has occurred in the NBA in the past two

school student from entering the NBA draft until they are 19
