2009 NFL Power Rankings - Week 14

Compiled December 9th, 2009

Welcome to week 14 of our computerized power rankings.

Another week another swap in the top spot between the saints and Colts. The Saints trouble with the lowly Redskins moved them back just a bit while the Colts continue to roll. Can we really end up with two undefeated teams this year? The odds are getting better as each week passes..

Our computerized power ranking system is compiled using our own experts analysis along with the grades from over 50 NFL sites and experts, as well as over 70 other criteria to give the best overall consensus power rankings on the web

Rank Last    Team  Points
1 2   Colts 0..300
It's time a little credit went to Indy's defense. They are the number two scoring defense only yielding 16.8 ppg.
2 1

Saints

0.350
The big-play Saints defense leads the NFL with 36 takeaways, including three or more nine times.
3 3

Vikings

2.064
Last weeks performance has many questioning Favre late in the season. OK people, they are 10-2 he can have one bad week.
4 5

Chargers

3.045
Interesting week. Norv Turner has not lost in December with the Chargers and this week they play the Cowboys who treat December like a minefield.
5 4

Patriots

3.059
Yes, they lost two in a row. The sky has not completely fallen though no matter what you might see elsewhere.
6 7

Packers

3.450
Getting hot at the right time.
7 10   Eagles 4.236
Doesn't it seem that every year at this time, the Eagles make their move. A Week 14 victory over the Giants could put the NFC East in Donovan McNabb's hands
8 6

Bengals

4.327
The schedule closes tight, with back-to-back road games against Brett Favre in Minnesota and Philip Rivers in San Diego coming up.
9 12

Broncos

4.909
An upset in Indy could do a lot to keep AFC West title hopes alive
10 13

Cardinals

5.423
Looks a lot like last year with the Cardinals getting hot going into the playoffs. that worked out well for them.
11 6   Cowboys 5.645
Must be December as the Cowboys are starting their annual swoon.
12 8

Ravens

6.277
Joe Flacco is in a horrible sophomore slump
13 14

Giants

7.191
  Cowboy killers in December AGAIN.
14 11   Steelers 7.464
The Steelers are in free fall usually its the Super Bowl loser that does this.
15 15   Jets 7.832
The Jets  are hoping the long layoff will enable Mark Sanchez to play against Tampa Bay this week, the last easy game on the slate
16 16

Texans

9.709
Kubiak is in trouble, they just cant get over the hump.
17 19

Dolphins

9.714
The Dolphins are 6-3 in the Chad Henne era and just one game out of the AFC East lead and wild-card race.
18 17   Falcons 10.645
The Falcons lost Matt Ryan at the worst time and now a loss to the Saints will likely end the season
19 18

49ers

10.791
They win when Frank Gore carries the ball, so why do they continually go away from the running game.
20 21 Jaguars 10.809
If they can win two of the next three, starting Sunday against the Dolphins, they could be a playoff team.
21 20   Titans 12.023
Tennessee has three straight at home and it could win out but it is likely too late.
22 22

Panthers

12.927
Matt Moore is 1-0 as a starter, why not take the chance, look what it did for the Titans..
23 23

Seahawks

12.964
Decimated by injuries seemingly every year, we may never find out how good this team could have been.
24 25

Bears

13.677
So they beat the Rams. They still are horrible.
25 26

Redskins

14.055
Another valiant effort that falls short against a top team.
26 24

Bills

14.391
The Bills are a road favorite in K.C.? Take the points.
27 28

Raiders

16.559
The Raiders and their unknown quarterback just beat Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in a three-week span.
28 27   Chiefs 17.445
The Chiefs get a break with Buffalo coming to town followed by Cleveland. They could finish with 5 wins, or the three they have now depending on how they respond to two straight blowouts.
29 29   Buccaneers 18.323
I was watching the Bucs, not sure why, wondering why they ever fired Jon Gruden. Looks stupid now.
30 30   Rams 18.755
Well. Steven Jackson is certainly impressive if you don't care about winning.
31 31

Lions

18.964
Lions fans should be thankful that they are not going to rush him out this week to get killed against the Ravens defense..
32 32

Browns

19.573
Got to feel sorry for the Browns. The Browns now host a Steelers team that is in a must win situation and is angry as hell.
