 NFL Power Rankings

January 02, 2007

The regular season is complete and we have our final regular season power rankings completed.

The final week of the 2007 NFL regular season gave us some exciting finishes, and a couple of record-setting performances. The Patriots-Giants Saturday night special lived up to the hype as Tom Brady and Randy Moss made history.

Really right now, it's New England's world and we’re just living in it. Someone may knock them off, but until they do, we all bow down to the kings of the NFL. They either stomp you, or you can play a perfect game against them as the Giants did and they come from behind if necessary. Either way, they win.

Our computerized power ranking system is compiled using our own experts analysis along with the grades from over 50 NFL sites and experts, as well as over 20 other criteria to give the best overall consensus power rankings on the web.

NFL WEEK FINAL 2007 REGULAR SEASON POWER RANKINGS

Current Team Previous Change Points
1 Patriots · Matchups 1 NC 0.398
The best point total in our ten year history of doing the power rankings, now they get to start at 0-0 with everyone else and try to really make history. Lose and 16-0 means nothing.
2 Colts · Matchups 2 NC 2.129
They lost, but weren't really trying. It's a good thing Manning stays healthy though. Sorgi prays for Manning's health every week, as do all Colts fans.
3 Chargers · Matchups 5 2 3.634
The hottest team in the league right now other than the Patriots. They have quietly been destroying competition of late.
4 Packers · Matchups 6 2 3.833
Nice bounce back dominant game last week even when it meant nothing, now they get a week off to heal and they are capable of beating anyone.
5 Cowboys · Matchups 3 2 4.108
They had better be able to get their emotion back because even playing the starters they have looked flat the last 3 weeks.
6 Jaguars · Matchups 4 2 4.801
Tough matchup since the Steelers have never lost in the situation they are going into, but if anyone can play in the elements in Pittsburgh, its these Jaguars.
7 Steelers · Matchups 7 NC 6.754
How healthy is Ben Roethlisberger? We all know the running game is not clicking like it should, Ben is going to have to put this team on his back for them to defeat the Jags.
8 Buccaneers · Matchups 8 NC 7.187
The Bucs have now lost two in a row, and three of their last four as they have been coasting, we think that may have been a mistake. The Giants are playing their best ball right now and it is going to take a great effort to beat them. The rest is over.
9 Seahawks · Matchups 9 NC 8.106
Seattle takes on Washington in a rematch of a hard-fought 2005 NFC divisional-round meeting this weekend. Now can they go a postseason with no running game?
10 Redskins · Matchups 14 2 8.888
The hottest team in the NFC notched its fourth straight win and a playoff berth with a 27-6 victory over Dallas on Sunday. Look out, Seattle.
11 Giants · Matchups 11 NC 9.458
Though they ended up on the wrong end of the scoreboard, the Giants showed the country they can play some football. Tampa Bay's up ahead this weekend. The fact that it's a road game shouldn't matter. New York went 7-1 away from home this season
12 Titans · Matchups 13 1 9.982
Tennessee travels to San Diego for a wild-card round battle on Sunday. San Diego hasn't won a playoff game since 1994. But still, Vince Young's health will be the key.
13 Eagles · Matchups 12 1 10.051
They finished on a roll, which is a good thing. Donovan McNabb played well enough for the Eagles to keep him, if they don't they are crazy.
14 Vikings · Matchups 10 4 10.144
How do you lay an egg in the situation they were in? Is Tarvaris Jackson the quarterback of the future?
15 Browns · Matchups 15 NC 12.299
The 10 wins are the team's most since the expansion rebirth in 1999. If only they didn't blow that game against the Bengals.
16 Bears · Matchups 21 NC 13.461
Devin Hester has been great, if they can find someone to throw him the ball they might become a factor next year again, but we still wonder about the fall of that defense.
17 Texans · Matchups 18 1 13.494
Houston's roster was ravaged by injuries in '07, and yet, the Texans still finished the season with a .500 record. Definitely a team to watch in 2008.
18 Cardinals · Matchups 19 1 14.165
They finished 8-8, which is a nice first season for Ken Whisenhunt. Now they get to have a quarterback controversy for 2008.
19 Broncos · Matchups 21 2 14.554
Jay Cutler is looking a LOT like Jake Plummer.
20 Bengals · Matchups 23 3 14.950
Isn't Marvin Lewis a defensive-oriented coach? Like the Saints they have to fix the defense.
21 Saints · Matchups 17 4 15.061
Fix that defense or watch all that wonderful passing game go to waste. They are the Chiefs of a few years ago, all offense no defense. We see how that worked out.
22 Bills · Matchups 20 2 15.315
With a host of young talent under contract for years to come, look for the Bills to only get better next season
23 Panthers · Matchups 24 1 15.672
Without Jake Delhomme this team was just not any good. Rookie linebacker Jon Beason was a bright spot.
24 Lions · Matchups 22 2 16.523
With Martz gone, they start over and then they have to ask if Jon Kitna is really the long-term answer at quarterback.
25 Jets · Matchups 25 NC 17.799
Man-genious? That was a painful win on Sunday.
26 Ravens · Matchups 28 2 18.967
Who will be the coach? Whoever it is needs to find a quarterback to lead this team right away.
27 Raiders · Matchups 27 NC 19.462
There may be some hope in Oakland, a JaMarcus Russell and Darren Mcfadden backfield combination could terrify the NFL for years to come and it looks like the Raiders might get to pick him.
28 Chiefs · Matchups 26 2 19.805
The Chiefs were 4-3 and in first place in the AFC West. They finish the season 4-12, and losers of nine straight. They are not just bad, but painful to watch. They fired a lot of offensive staff this week, but Herm Edwards is safe, he must know where Peterson buried the bodies.
29 Falcons · Matchups 32 3 19.957
The Falcons should really consider keeping Emmitt Thomas as coach, it is his time, and he really had them playing hard even when outmatched.
30 49ers · Matchups 29 1 20.592
Good news 49ers fans, you get the 7th pick in the draft. Now hand it over to the Patriots losers. Nice job mortgaging the future.
31 Dolphins · Matchups 31 NC 21.007
The Tuna has started the bloodletting in Miami already. Don't be shocked if the Dolphins look to trade down from number one for a bounty of picks
32 Rams · Matchups 30 2 21.868
The Rams finished a year that started with eight straight losses with four consecutive defeats. Health was a biog factor, but you can't play this bad without actually being bad.
