Rookie Running Backs Making an Impact in 2008
For as long as I can remember, there's been an adjustment period for running backs as they come into the NFL. No matter how highly touted a running back prospect was, their first year was spent on the bench and in blocking situations to learn the ropes. Whether it's due to increasingly more pro-style offenses in college or simply coaches being more willing to let rookies spread their wings, there has clearly been an increase this year in rookie running back productivity...
Tony Romo is obviously the real MVP in 2008
How does the team do with and without the player? Although you cannot always examine a team without a certain player if they never leave the game, you can judge their value to a team based on the talent and productivity around them. Of course you can judge a player off of statistics, and many MVP winners win their award based off incredible statistics, but it never tells the true story...

NFL Power Rankings

Not a lot of change at the top as the top 3 don't change at all and the Jets fall back while the Bucs and Panthers move back up, really for most of the season the top 5 have been the same mostly.

This week we get to see a lot of interplay between the good teams for a change.

.

The No. 3 Pittsburgh Steelers are hosts to the No. 8 Dallas Cowboys. This revival of the classic Super Bowl rivalry should tell us where the Cowboys really stand.

The Panthers, back up to No. 5, play host to the No. 4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night. The Bucs survived a visit from the New Orleans Saints in Week 13 and now face another NFC South showdown with a trip to Charlotte, N.C. -- this time with first place in the division on the line.

The Titans should have an easy time with the Browns this week, but the Giants have a tough test. The Giants  could solidify their standing atop the poll by defeating the seemingly rejuvenated Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.

This time of year is a lot of fun as playoff seeds start to take shape and this weekend should answer a lot of question for us.

Rank Last  Team  Points
1 1 Giants 3.107
Is there any doubt they are the best team? It's not really even close unless someone gets hot. Distractions don't even register with them.
2 2

Titans

3.209
Nice blowout win. Easy schedule could bite them later on.
3 3

Steelers

4.908
The Steelers will be a playoff threat in the AFC. They can win in bad weather and that is crucial at this time of year.
4 5

Buccaneers

5.237
They control their own destiny in the division race, starting Monday against the Panthers
5 6

Panthers

5.822
By beating Tampa Bay on Monday night, they can prove they are for real. They are not looking as good as their record.
6 7

Colts

6.909
With games against Detroit and Cincinnati coming up the Colts are getting hot at the right time. Do not count them out.
7 12

Cowboys

8.470
They appear to be back, I guess we find out this week at Pittsburgh.
8 4

Jets

8.720
What the hell was that, an aberration, or are the Jets what we thought they were. A decent team, but no Super Bowl contender
9 11

Falcons

8.935
This team looks headed for the playoffs, that is just an amazing turnaround.
10 10

Patriots

8.951
A loss to the Steelers in the rain does not mean they should drop.
11 8

Ravens

9.172
The drop is not their fault, just the way it shakes out. They can play, but tough stretch coming up. Wonder if Flacco ever hits the rookie wall?
12 9

Cardinals

9.694
The East coast thing just kills them, and in the playoffs they will have to go east.
13 12

Redskins

9.695
Jason Campbell looks lost at times. and the Skins have suddenly lost 3 of 4
14 17

Vikings

9.796
First place! Now come the suspensions.
15 17

Eagles

10.572
They certainly laid a turkey on Arizona last week.
16 26

Broncos

12.723
The schizophrenic Broncos move way up by default, the next 15 teams are just not that good.
17 14

Bears

12.739
That defense is just not what it used to be.
18 18

Dolphins

12.806
We all knew it was coming, they must win these next two division games now, although no matter what this has been an amazing season.
19 16

Packers

12.854
They are now two games back in the division with four to go. It's going to kill a lot of Packer fans to watch Favre while they stay home.
20 19

Saints

12.991
That offense and they are still not winning, looks like a non playoff year
21 20

Bills

13.352
They essentially play a playoff game this week against the Dolphins in Toronto. The loser is pretty much done
22 21

Chargers

14.284
Can Norv Turner keep his job?
23 21

Jaguars

14.611
Just a complete disaster, they may end up in the bottom 5
24 25

Texans

16.014
Playing for next year, actually playing for somewhere around 2018 when Manning retires.
25 30

Chiefs

16.119
Say what you will about this team, they have mostly battled and stayed competitive with a real lack of talent
26 27

49ers

16.334
Nice win for Singletary, he is making it tough not to hire him, if they don't someone else will.
27 26

Browns

17.845
Hey look, a Ken Dorsey sighting. This team is in deep trouble.
28 28

Seahawks

18.028
Thanks a lot for that Turkey of a game
29 29

Bengals

18.449
Just a horrible team, just when you think its going to get better.
30 25

Raiders

20.647
They are still the Raiders after all, who else could do that against the Baby Chiefs
31 31

Rams

20.806
The Rams have some hope for next year if they can build a line to protect Jackson and Bulger
32 32

Lions

21.101
I am going to ask this every week. What is the point of playing 200 year old, 350 lb Daunte Culpepper?
