I am starting to wonder if maybe when NE coach Bill Belichick made his deal with the devil,
someone had to pay. I think it is Herm Edwards.
Herm says the right things,
tries to do the right things, recognizes talent, but is just snake bitten no
matter what he does. We all know about the injury carousel in NY when he was
head coach of the Jets, now we are seeing an almost eerie similarity in KC.
The
Chiefs have lost their top 2 quarterbacks, their long snapper, their punter, had
to change kickers, their running back is not reliable as he cant stay out of
trouble, so what happens today, their number two RB Kolby Smith is lost for the
season.
Then you take a look at game overall today.
The Chiefs have a
big lead already and create a turnover as the Bucs are driving to the end zone.
They then on the very next play fumble it back on their own 5 yard line. They
give up a kickoff return for a touchdown. Everything that could possibly happen
to have that turnaround from a 24-3 lead to a loss happened.
Tony Gonzales gets
absolutely mugged going down the field as the Chiefs are desperately trying to
run out the clock, he arm bars the defender finally after about ten yards just
to get him off of him and of course it is pass interference on Gonzales. So the
Chiefs have to give it back, the Bucs go score, convert a two point play, win
the toss in overtime.
It gets even crazier from there.
On that stupid time out
that I always hate and never works, but did this time, Matt Bryant missed a
38-yard field goal attempt on a third down play in overtime after making the one
that Edwards called time out on, tackle Jeremy Trueblood was called for a false
start. So the Bucs lined up for another third-down play and Jeff Garcia
connected with Jameel Cook for nine yards, giving Bryant a second chance from 33
that he nailed for the win.
So a penalty on the Buccaneers cost the Chiefs this
game in the end.
Now after all of that how can anyone not think that Herm Edwards
is cursed.
