Brad Johnson plays like his age, but defense helps Cowboys
beat Bucs 13-9
Brad Johnson didn’t mind the boos. He gladly traded them for a
victory.
In his second start subbing for injured Tony Romo, Johnson repeatedly threw
passes that probably wouldn’t get first downs but also likely wouldn’t be
intercepted. His safety-first approach annoyed the home fans—until the Dallas
Cowboys walked away 13-9 winners over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Johnson passed for a measly 122 yards and the Cowboys gained only 172, their
fewest ever in a victory. His aim was off on several potential scores, but he
came through on a 2-yard touchdown pass to newcomer Roy Williams just before
halftime that proved to be the game-winner.
Fittingly, it capped a drive sustained by four Tampa Bay penalties...more

Preview:
The Dallas Cowboys were talking about gearing up for a playoff
run after opening with three impressive wins. Now they're simply focused on
salvaging their season with injured quarterback Tony Romo not expected to return
until mid-November. After a humiliating loss their last time out, the Cowboys
will again be without Romo Sunday when they try to get their season back on
track against the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Texas Stadium.
Coming off a 13-win season, Dallas (4-3) had high expectations for 2008...
Pick: The Cowboys are dead in the water without Romo at the helm. The Bucs
are rolling along nicely and should walk out of Dallas as winners. Tampa 28 - Dallas 17
Notable:
With Tony Romo out again and
with Tampa on a two-game win streak, the 'Boys appear vulnerable. But
the Bucs are just 1-2 on the road and Dallas is suddenly hungry
