Who cares that the New York Giants’ run on the road is over? The
Super Bowl champions are winning at home this season.
Brandon Jacobs ran for two touchdowns, Eli Manning threw for one, Michael
Johnson had two interceptions and the Giants managed to make fewer mistakes than
the woeful San Francisco 49ers in a 29-17 victory on Sunday in a sloppily played
game.
The victory was the fourth straight at home for the Giants (5-1)—one more than
they had last season—and it sent the 49ers (2-5) to their fourth straight loss.
“Last year I don’t want to say we didn’t want to come home and play,” said
defensive end Justin Tuck, who had two sacks. “But we felt more comfortable on
the road.”

With one humbling defeat to a seemingly inferior opponent, the
New York Giants saw several streaks go up in smoke. Trying to bounce back
Sunday, the reigning Super Bowl champions have the luxury of facing another
struggling team as they try to hand the San Francisco 49ers a fourth straight
loss. The Giants (4-1) had won all four games this season, eight in row overall
including postseason, and 12 consecutive games away from their home field, but
saw those streaks all end Monday night, when they gave up 18 unanswered points
to the Cleveland Browns in the second half of a 35-14 defeat...more
Pick: The 49ers get to face a Giants team coming off of
something unfamiliar to them, a loss. Don't look for them to be starting any
trends here, as Coughlin will have them ready. The Giants have outscored the
49ers by 57-21 in their last two meetings and we look for that to continue. Giants 30 - 49ers 10
Notable:
The Giants are trying to bounce back from a most humbling Monday
night defeat by the Browns, their first loss of the season. QB Eli Manning came
away from that game with bruises to his chest and his ego, but can ease his pain
against the 49ers
