Kawika Mitchell and Trent Edwards provide Bills a lift over
Chargers 23-14
After the power went out at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Trent Edwards
and Kawika Mitchell provided all the electricity the Buffalo Bills needed
against the San Diego Chargers.
Edwards went 25-of-30 for 261 yards and a touchdown, and Mitchell intercepted a
pass from Philip Rivers at the goal line to thwart a potential go-ahead score
midway through the fourth quarter to secure a 23-14 win Sunday.
Mitchell’s interception allowed Edwards to engineer a seven-play, 43-yard drive
to set up Rian Lindell’s 44-yard field goal for a 23-14 lead with 3:17
remaining. Then Mitchell came through again, when he forced Rivers to fumble on
San Diego’s next possession.
Edwards hit Lee Evans on a 2-yard touchdown pass and Marshawn Lynch also scored
for the AFC East-leading Bills, who are off to their first 5-1 start since 1995.
Buffalo, off the week before, erased the memories of a dreadful 41-17 loss at
Arizona and won its 200th home game in franchise history.
The Chargers (3-4) failed to build off the momentum of a 30-10 win over New
England last week, and faced a long flight to London for next week’s game
against New Orleans at Wembley Stadium...

Preview:
The Buffalo Bills' undefeated start was derailed by the NFL's
second-highest scoring team in their latest game, as the previously stout Bills'
defense surrendered 41 points in a blowout loss. With a bye week to regroup,
Buffalo now has the league's highest-scoring club in its way. The AFC
East-leading Bills will try to get back on track Sunday when they return home
for a date with the high-powered San Diego Chargers, who are looking for their
fourth win in five games...
Pick: The Chargers looked dominant against New England
last Sunday night. But the 2008 Bills don't belong in the same conversation as
the 2008 Patriots. They're a superior squad - Bills 27 - Chargers 24
Notable:
The Bills were last seen absorbing a 41-17 beating at the hands
of the Cardinals, so they have much to prove in their return from a bye week.
Buffalo QB Trent Edwards suffered a concussion in that loss, but returned to
practice this week and expects to play
