Texans start win streak as Slaton, Daniels combine for 4
touchdowns in 28-21 victory over winless Lions
The Houston Texans had such a good start it made up for their
sloppy finish.
The Texans jumped to a three-touchdown lead and held on for a 28-21 win over the
scrappy but still winless Detroit Lions on Sunday.
The Texans scored touchdowns on their first three possessions for the first time
in team history. They weren’t quite as sharp in the second half, punting on four
of five possessions, and were outscored 17-7, allowing the Lions (0-6) to cut
Houston’s lead to a touchdown with about 4 minutes left.
The Texans (2-4) held the ball until there were just 20 seconds to go and
Detroit’s last play ended in a fumble...

Preview:
With a win last weekend, the Houston Texans salvaged some hope
that they can save their season. The Detroit Lions', meanwhile, looks more lost
than ever. The Texans look to build on their first victory of the year Sunday
when they host the winless Lions, a team in turmoil after losing its quarterback
and one of its top receivers. After going 8-8 last season for the first
non-losing finish in the franchise's six-year history, Houston (1-4) expected to
keep building in 2008...more
Pick: The Lions are just horrible, the Texans are a lot
better than their record, this should be a great line, but is a lot closer than
it should be at 9.5 due to the quarterback situation. Not to worry this should
be a blowout as the Lions are now in complete turmoil after losing their
quarterback and top receiver. Texans 38 - Lions 17
Notable:
The Texans had back-to-back
hard-luck losses before stunning the Dolphins last week. They get a chance to
string a few wins together now. They have the winless Lions followed by the
winless Bengals next week.
