Even on the road, the chorus of “Romo!, Romo!” from Dallas
Cowboys’ fans was easily audible at the start of the second half.
But they were stuck with Brad Johnson.
The 40-year-old backup quarterback couldn’t keep up with a suddenly potent,
opportunistic St. Louis Rams’ offense, throwing three interceptions. Steven
Jackson ran for 160 yards on 25 carries with three touchdowns and the Rams (2-4)
looked like contenders instead of sad sacks for the second straight game under
new coach Jim Haslett in a surprisingly easy 34-14 victory on Sunday.
The Rams won 19-17 at Washington last week in their first game since replacing
Scott Linehan, ending a run of 17 losses in 20 games and four blowout losses to
start the season.
Their response to Haslett, beginning his second stint as a head coach, has
exceeded expectations.

Preview:
The Dallas Cowboys lost for the second time in three games last
Sunday in an overtime thriller. That was only the beginning of their chaotic
week. After seeing their quarterback injured, a starting cornerback suspended,
and trying to counter those setbacks with a blockbuster trade, the Cowboys look
to bounce back from a disheartening defeat as they visit the St. Louis Rams on
Sunday. Dallas (4-2) entered the season as one of the favorites to represent the
NFC in the Super Bowl, and opened 3-0, but the team now appears in disarray
after its 30-24 overtime loss at Arizona last Sunday...more
Pick: Romo keeps saying he wants to play, but that is a
stupid idea, he fumbles too much with two good hands. We really don’t care
anyway since Brad Johnson is more than a capable backup against a team like the
Rams. The Rams are coming off a win over the Redskins, but they are still just
horrible. Cowboys 27 - Rams 14
Notable:
In the span of a few days, the Cowboys lost a game, declared
their starting QB out with a broken finger, saw their controversial DB get
suspended by the NFL, and traded a bunch of draft picks to the Lions to acquire
a new receiver. Other than that, a slow news week. The bandwagon has wheels
falling off all over it. Not so fast, they will be just fine.
Do the Rams have the edge in anything?
