The New York Giants are this year’s New England Patriots—so far.
In a nearly flawless performance, Eli Manning threw two touchdowns, Brandon
Jacobs ran for two more and the unbeaten Giants scored on their first five
possessions in a 44-6 victory that embarrassed the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The win was the eighth straight for the Giants (4-0) dating to last year’s
playoffs, and it gave the Super Bowl champions their best start since 1990, when
they posted a 13-3 record and also won the NFL title. The Giants rolled up 523
yards in total offense, their most since collecting 524 yards against Green Bay
on Jan. 6, 2002, and limited Seattle to 187.
“You want to win every game,” Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce said. “That’s not
very realistic. It’s only happened twice in the NFL, teams went to the
postseason undefeated. If we can go undefeated in the division, that could be
the best undefeated record we could have...

The Seattle Seahawks have been waiting all season to get their
top receivers back on the field. This week, meanwhile, the New York Giants want
their No. 1 target to stay away.
With Plaxico Burress set to serve a one-game suspension, the Giants look to
remain undefeated Sunday when they host a Seahawks team expecting Deion Branch
and Bobby Engram to make their season debuts.
Branch (knee) and Engram (shoulder) should play Sunday, according to Seahawks
coach Mike Holmgren. That would be a major boost for Seattle (1-2), coming off a
bye and hoping to bounce back from a poor start as it faces a stout Giants'
defense.
New York (3-0), meanwhile, is one of three undefeated teams remaining. But the
Giants, who also had their bye last week, won't have their top offensive threat
in this contest...
Giants coach Tom Coughlin is 1-5 in his career
against the Seahawks
Matt Hasselbeck is just 1-5 with a 76.0 quarterback rating in
his last six starts in the Eastern Time Zone
Inside the Game Plans:
Notable:
SEAHAWKS: The
Seahawks need to control the ball with their now-balanced offense
because if they don't, New York's huge offensive line and bruising back
Brandon Jacobs are likely to do so. They also need to give Matt
Hasselbeck protection against New York's vaunted pass rush, which has 13
sacks...FULL

GIANTS: The
undefeated Giants will attempt to play strong defense and use the
running game to soften an otherwise not-so-strong Seattle defense,
minimizing the absence of star WR Plaxico Burress (suspended from this
game for missing a practice). The running game will alternately attack
the middle of the Seahawks' defense, focusing on DT Brandon Mebane, and
the edges, running against rookie RDE Lawrence Jackson...FULL
