Three quarters, three points. Cleveland’s offense was having
another meltdown day, and Derek Anderson was running out of chances to keep his
job.
The quarterback’s one good moment was enough to save his job—and the Browns’
season, too.
With Brady Quinn on the sideline ready to take over at any time Sunday, the
embattled Anderson threw a touchdown pass and rallied the Browns to a 20-12
victory over a winless Cincinnati Bengals team missing its starting
quarterback...more

Preview:
The winless Browns expected to vie for the AFC North title, but,
with games against the Giants, Redskins and Jags up next, they’re closer to an
0-7 start than playoff contention.
Ohio's two professional football teams are both off to 0-3
starts, but the Cincinnati Bengals' latest loss at least has them encouraged
that they're headed in the right direction.
The Cleveland Browns, on the other hand, don't seem to know quite where they're
headed - or who's going to lead them.
The Bengals will try to take the positives from a tight loss to the defending
Super Bowl champs into their matchup Sunday with the visiting Browns, who appear
to be on the verge of a quarterback controversy...more
Inside the Game Plans:
BROWNS: The Browns pass offense is
stronger this week because Donte Stallworth should be ready to play
after missing the first three games, but the Browns want to get back to
the basics of proving they can run the ball. Running back Jamal Lewis
was critical of the play-calling for giving up the run too early in the
28-10 loss to the Ravens last Sunday...FULL

BENGALS: Coach Marvin Lewis on
Monday appealed to Bengals fans, though many are disenchanted by the
team's 0-3 start, to show up, be loud and make a difference Sunday at
Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals would like nothing more than to get a
lead and keep it. The Bengals think they can throw on the Browns. If
they get a lead, the Bengals can make the Browns one-dimensional
offensively...FULL

Notable:
Cincinnati is one of two teams in the
league without a point in the third quarter this season (Houston is the
other).
The Bengals (23 sacks) and Browns (31
sacks) are the two worst AFC teams in terms of getting to opposing
quarterbacks since the beginning of 2007
Cleveland should be able to start to get on track against the
Bengals, who are definitely not in the class of the Cowboys, Steelers
and Ravens. However the predictor says Cincy by home field.
