Sore ankle and
all, Broadway Brett joined
Broadway Joe in the Jets’ record
book.
Brett Favre set a career high
and tied Joe Namath’s Jets mark
with six touchdown passes,
including three to Laveranues
Coles, and New York took
advantage of a series of
mistakes by Arizona in a big
second quarter before holding on
to beat the Cardinals 56-35 on
Sunday.
“Throwing six touchdown passes
was awesome,” Favre said. “That
had nothing to do with how I
felt I played. It was one of
those games. More importantly, I
felt the overall game itself, I
managed it well.”
Favre, showing no signs of a
left ankle injury that hobbled
him during the week, finished
24-for-34 for 289 yards and an
interception for the Jets
(2-2)...

Preview:
Tough spot for the Jets, who flew cross country following their
Monday night thrashing in San Diego. Meanwhile the Cards following years of East
coast futility stayed East for the week.
Brett Favre and Kurt Warner were born less than two years apart,
and both own Super Bowl rings and multiple MVP awards they won while
quarterbacking NFC teams during their primes.
Somehow, they never became rivals.
Sunday's meeting between Favre's New York Jets and Warner's Arizona Cardinals
will be only the second regular season matchup between the veteran
signal-callers as starters, as both try to help their teams rebound from road
losses...more
Inside the Game Plans:
Notable:
CARDINALS:
Offensively, the Cardinals must make the Jets pay for blitzing. The Jets
like to bring pressure from various angles, so the offensive line and
running backs need to be aware. If they pick it up, Kurt Warner could
have a big day. Defensively, the Cardinals need to start quicker, and
come up with turnovers when given the opportunity...FULL
STORY
JETS: The Jets
would like to get their running game going again after Thomas Jones was
limited to 37 yards rushing and lost a key fumble at San Diego. Plus,
that would help take some of the load off a gimpy Brett Favre. The
defense will have its hands full against an Arizona offense led by
37-year-old Kurt Warner. Much like Favre, the passage of time hasn't
much affected Warner's arm strength, and he has two big-time receivers
to throw to in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin...FULL
STORY
Brett Favre was sacked
three times by the Chargers and had his left ankle injured on a
third-quarter sack by Jyles Tucker. Despite a noticeable limp following
that play, Favre stayed in the game and is expected to make his 257th
consecutive regular-season start this Sunday.
Larry Fitzgerald had his 15th career
100-yard receiving game last Sunday. Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin have
now combined for 540 receiving yards thus far in 2008, the most by any
pair of teammates in the league
