Lindell’s 38-yard field goal caps Bills 24-23 win.

Rian Lindell’s mind is at ease after the Buffalo kicker made up for what could’ve been a costly mistake. The rest of the Bills are breathing easy, too.

In a game they had no business winning, the Bills overcame three quarters of their own ineptitude to score 17 points in the final 8 minutes for a 24-23 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Lindell hit a 38-yard field goal as time ran out—making up for a 46-yarder he missed earlier in the game—and helping Buffalo get off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 1992.

“You had better believe it,” Lindell said. “I can sleep tonight now.”

Believe this, too: With New England losing to Miami, Buffalo is now alone in first place atop the AFC East...more

If the Buffalo Bills' perfect start continues, Lane Kiffin's coaching tenure with the Oakland Raiders may not.

While the Bills' best start in 16 years is at stake, so too might be the job status of Kiffin when Oakland visits Buffalo on Sunday.
A tumultuous offseason led to Raiders owner Al Davis sending Kiffin a letter of resignation to sign. Kiffin never put his name on the dotted line and he's continued to clash with the ostentatious icon, bringing about reports the coach would soon be fired, especially after a 41-14 home loss to Denver to open the season.

Oakland (1-1) might have helped saved his job with a 23-8 win at Kansas City last Sunday, though it certainly seems as if one false move - or potentially one more loss - could spell the end of Kiffin's brief tenure as Raiders coach...more

Inside the Game Plans: Notable:

RAIDERS: If Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is true to his word regarding the Raiders' deficiencies in the passing game, expect another heavy diet of running even though the going will be considerably tougher against the Bills. If McFadden is ready to play, they'll look to attack the perimeter more often and use him as a receiver on swing passes. Defensively, with the Bills presenting more position groupings than in years past, the Raiders are likely to go vanilla and revert to a defense that doesn't blitz as much as it did in Kansas City... FULL STORY

BILLS: The Raiders were remodeled with $220 million in personnel moves over the offseason yet they remain a mystery. A week after a lousy performance against Denver, Oakland defeated Kansas City 23-8 and rushed for 300 yards. The Bills need to take advantage of the Raiders' coaching turmoil at home. Young QB JaMarcus Russell can be rattled with pressure and Buffalo's defense is capable of shutting down Oakland's running game, forcing him to pass, and rattling him into mistakes... FULL STORY

JaMarcus Russell was just 6-of-17 for 55 yards against Kansas City last weekend, but still managed to win his first game as an NFL quarterback.

Buffalo is 5-3 in its last eight home games with each of the losses coming to a 2007 playoff team (Dallas, NY Giants, New England).
