Scobee saves game for Jags in 23-21 win
over Colts
Josh Scobee savored every part of Sunday’s victory celebration.
Even the wrestling match with the ball boy.
Scobee, who produced Jacksonville’s only other win in Indianapolis with a
53-yard field goal in 2004, did it again Sunday by making a 51-yarder with 4
seconds left to beat the dreaded Colts 23-21. And this time, he took the ball.
“My holder went to give me a high-five and I took off running,” said Scobee, who
left the ball from his other winning kick in the Indianapolis locker room and
never got it back. “I tried to get the ball from the ball boy and he didn’t
recognize me. He wouldn’t let go of it, so I had to rip it away from him.”
Just like he snatched a second straight comeback out of the Colts’ grasp.
The ramifications of Scobee’s kick may last far longer than any postgame party.
The victory allowed Jacksonville (1-2) to avoid the franchise’s first 0-3 start
in five years and get out of what would have been a huge hole against the
five-time AFC South champs...more

Injuries on the
offensive line have
hindered both the
Indianapolis Colts and
Jacksonville Jaguars
early this season.
Now, Indianapolis may
have an even bigger
problem on defense.
The Colts will begin a
prolonged stretch
without safety Bob
Sanders - the 2007 NFL
defensive player of the
year - when they host
the AFC South rival
Jaguars on Sunday, with
Indianapolis looking for
its first win at Lucas
Oil Stadium and
Jacksonville hoping to
avoid an 0-3 start.
With four starting
offensive linemen
injured, the Colts'
offense has sputtered
this season, as the team

any other since 2003
hasn't reached 20 in

Inside the Game Plans:
Notable:
JAGUARS: The key
for the Jaguars is to hit some long passes to stop the Colts from
jamming the line of scrimmage. The Jaguars' longest pass completion
Sunday against Buffalo was 15 yards, which is why teams are
concentrating on stopping the run. And the strategy is working. The
Jaguars haven't gained 100 yards in either of the first two games, the
first time that has happened since the last two games of the 2004
season...FULL

COLTS: Controlling the tempo will be the
key to how well the Colts play this week. Indianapolis has to be able to
control the football, from an offensive perspective, and keep the
Jaguars from getting into a rhythm with their running attack.
The Colts offensive line has had some upheaval due to injuries, which
has kept the team's rushing game from getting established. Indianapolis
has to do a much, much better job of controlling the tempo of the
offense and have some sustained drives...FULL
