The Green Bay Packers had a plan to stop Terrell Owens— and did
it ever work.
Unfortunately for them, just about everyone else on the Dallas Cowboys’ offense
had a big night in a 27-16 victory at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Even unheralded
backup receiver Miles Austin got into the act with a pair of big catches.
Austin said all the attention the Packers paid to Owens opened things for
everyone else.
“Him having two catches, 17 yards doesn’t explain what he did,” Austin said.
“He’s attracting double coverage, triple coverage all the time. So for him to do
that, it’s almost bigger than him making the play.”
With Owens uncharacteristically silent on and off the field—he didn’t talk after
the game—Marion Barber ran for a career-high 142 yards and a touchdown, and
rookie Felix Jones added a 60-yard touchdown run in the second quarter...

When the Green Bay
Packers and Dallas
Cowboys met in a
much-hyped prime-time
matchup last season,
Aaron Rodgers wasn't
expected to play, but he
turned in a strong
performance in defeat
after an injured Brett
Favre left the game.
Following Favre's
departure from the
Packers, Rodgers has
been even better.
The first-year starter
will look to build on
his best game as a pro
when the Cowboys and
Packers try to continue
their unbeaten starts
Sunday night, with
Dallas seeking its first
win at Lambeau Field...more
Inside the Game Plans:
Notable:
COWBOYS: Packers
QB Aaron Rodgers gave the Cowboys fits last year when he came off the
bench for an injured Brett Favre. The Cowboys will be prepared for his
mad scrambles this time. They must contain him and keep him in the
pocket, while preventing the big play down the field to Greg Jennings.
Offensively, the Cowboys must do what they do best - get the ball to
Terrell Owens and Jason Witten for big plays and then let running back
Marion Barber grind it out...FULL

PACKERS: If the
Packers wind up springing what many would consider an upset victory over
the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night - no matter that the game is being
played in Green Bay - its genesis might stem back to early February in
Honolulu, Hawaii.
As a reward for being denied a trip to the Super Bowl when their team
lost to the New York Giants in overtime in the NFC Championship Game,
the Green Bay coaches comprised the staff for the NFC squad in the Pro
Bowl.
"I think half our team was the Dallas Cowboys - (a franchise-record) 13
of them," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday...FULL

Dallas got a scare from
the Eagles on Monday night, but still prevailed by the score of 41-37.
The Cowboys are now 2-0 for the 25th time in franchise history — Dallas
has made the playoffs 22 of the previous 24 times it's started a season
with wins in the first two games
These two squads have played 21 regular-season games all-time with
Dallas holding a slim 11-10 advantage. Including the postseason, the
Packers are 7-3 all-time at home vs. the Cowboys and have never lost a
game to Dallas at Lambeau Field (5-0 record).
