Ravens beat Eagles 36-7 - McNabb pulled after 1st half
Pulled at halftime after a second straight dreadful performance,
a perfectly healthy Donovan McNabb was asked the last time he left a game under
similar circumstances.
“Never,” he replied, shaking his head. “Never.”
While Kevin Kolb ran the Philadelphia offense, McNabb watched stoically from the
sideline as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Eagles 36-7 on Sunday, presenting
first-year coach John Harbaugh with a lopsided victory over the team he served
as an assistant for 10 years.
McNabb was 8-for-18 for 59 yards with two interceptions and a fumble in the
first half—a miserable 13.2 quarterback rating. One week earlier, he threw three
interceptions and lost a fumble in an overtime tie with Cincinnati.
Seven turnovers in seven quarters was evidently enough for Philadelphia coach
Andy Reid, who benched McNabb and turned to Kolb, a second-round pick who had
attempted nine throws in two seasons before Sunday....

If the Philadelphia
Eagles weren't aware a week ago
that an NFL game could end in a
tie, it's safe to say they are
now. That lesson could also
serve as a refresher to the
franchise's brief history at M&T
Bank Stadium. Coming off the
league's first tie in six years,
the Eagles will look to begin
climbing out of the NFC East
cellar on Sunday at Baltimore,
where their only previous game
against the Ravens also ended in
a draw. Philadelphia (5-4-1)
came into last weekend tied with
Dallas for last place in perhaps
the NFL's toughest division, but
with a game at woeful
Cincinnati, it seemed the Eagles
could begin to work their way
back into playoff contention...
Prediction: That was a
calamitous stumble against the Bengals that left many wondering whether Donovan
McNabb is losing it from one too many blows to the head like a punch drunk
boxer. Despite his rookie status, Baltimore's Joe Flacco is fully aware that NFL
regular-season games can end in a tie and has never been filmed puking on the
field, so we are going with the Ravens just because of that. Ravens 23 - Eagles 20
