Previews:
After a brief retirement, a
tense reinstatement and a trade
away from the team he's anchored
for the last 16 years, Brett
Favre is finally about to get
what he was hoping for all
along.
Favre will have another chance
to play football on Sunday when
he makes his debut with the New
York Jets in their
season-opening trip to Miami to
face the rebuilding Dolphins...more
JETS: The Jets should be
helped by Miami's switch to a
base 3-4 defense, because New
York uses a similar defense, and
thus the offense got plenty of
reps against the 3-4 during
training camp. Look for the Jets
to try to establish Thomas Jones
and Leon Washington on the
ground so that Brett Favre
doesn't have to carry the entire
load on offense. On defense, the
Jets know that Chad Pennington
favors short-to-intermediate
passes, but they still must
guard against the occasional
deep ball, which often works
with Pennington because of the
element of surprise... FULL
STORY
DOLPHINS: The Dolphins
will pound the ball at the
29th-ranked run defense with the
potent combination of Ricky
Williams and Ronnie Brown.
They'll use a double-TE
formation with regularity
featuring Anthony Fasano and
Sean Ryan. When the Jets stuff
the box with eight defenders,
look for Chad Pennington to find
WRs Davone Bess and Ted Ginn Jr.
in the slot and on slants.
Defensively, the Dolphins know
they can't give Brett Favre time
to pick them apart so expect
plenty of blitzes coming from
all angles... FULL
