Bengals rally in a big way
to come from behind and defeat
Jets 38-31
It took the Bengals nearly three
quarters to come alive, but when
they did the Jets didn't know
what hit them.
Cincinnati reeled off 28
unanswered points to overcome a
13-point deficit and win 38-31,
snapping a four-game losing
streak and leaving New York fans
scratching their heads.
The Jets scored on their
first five possessions, and led
23-10 late in the third quarter.
That's when the bottom fell out
for New York (1-6), which got
three touchdown passes from Chad
Pennington, including one in the
game's waning seconds.
Kenny Watson ran for 130
yards and three touchdowns, and
Johnathan Joseph thwarted a Jets
comeback with a 42-yard
interception return for a
touchdown for the Bengals (2-4).
Brett Favre set a career high and tied Joe Namaths Jets mark with six touchdown passes, including three to Laveranues Coles, and New York took advantage of a series of mistakes by Arizona in a big second quarter before holding on to beat the Cardinals 56-35 on Sunday....
Life without Tom Brady might not be so bad for New England after all. Matt Cassel was efficient running the offense in his first NFL start, taking over for the injured quarterback and leading the Patriots over Brett Favre and the New York Jets 19-10 on Sunday...
Favres arrival drastically changes the Jets 2008 preview but it does not change the prediction: New York is still second best in the AFC East. Theyre apparently bent on winning now though. Brett Favre is the key of course, but its going to be tough to even get a wildcard this year. We think maybe the football gods smile on the Jets this year though...
The Cowboys let a 17-point lead shrivel to one, then had to break up a 2-point conversion that couldve tied it midway through the fourth quarter. Then, in the final minutes, they caught a break when a pass went through Miles Austins hands at the 1 and right into Patrick Craytons hands in the end zone, pushing Sundays winning margin to 31-22....
Three quarters, three points. Clevelands offense was having another meltdown day, and Derek Anderson was running out of chances to keep his job. The quarterbacks one good moment was enough to save his joband the Browns season, too....
Theres enough talent for a playoff run, but that doesn't really ever matter in Cincy. The draft was very good for the Bengals as they got the defensive help they so badly needed, but it is going to take some time for that defense to gel...
The Bengals needed help on the defensive line but took OLB Keith Rivers instead. He's probably a better fit at on the weak side but the Bengals are so short at this position that he could be the starter at MLB...
