Jets defeat Chiefs 13-10 in battle of draft positioning. Is that a victory?

Postgame Recaps, Storylines, and News

Recap: The New York Jets treated the fans who showed up -- and those who stayed awake -- to an overtime victory in their season finale. Mike Nugent kicked a 43-yard field goal, after having a 33-yarder negated by a penalty, 5:13 into the extra period to give the Jets a 13-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

With both offenses struggling and a freezing rain falling throughout, not even the return of Chiefs coach Herman Edwards to Giants Stadium could spice up this one. Edwards coached the Jets from 2001-05 and led them to the playoffs three times...FULL STORY

Pregame Previews, Storylines, and News

Preview:  It took heavy negotiating for the Kansas City Chiefs to secure Herman Edwards' rights from the New York Jets with a fourth-round draft pick. These teams didn't expect to be jostling for position near the top of next April's draft. Edwards will face the Jets for the first time since being pried away by the Chiefs when the teams conclude their disappointing seasons at the Meadowlands on Sunday. When Dick Vermeil retired following the 2005 season, Kansas City wanted Edwards to be his successor and ultimately had to part with a draft pick after more than a week of intense haggling...Full Story

Inside the Game Plans:

CHIEFS: You would think the Chiefs might be able to run the ball against the NFL's 29th-ranked defense, but they didn't run well against Denver or Detroit's lousy rush defenses, either.

Defensively, the Chiefs should be able to make Jets QB Kellen Clemens make mistakes, but they failed against both young and old quarterbacks this year...FULL STORY

JETS: QB Kellen Clemens appears likely to start, and he'll hope for better protection from the Jets' patchwork offensive line than was provided for Chad Pennington, who was sacked six times against Tennessee. Jerricho Cotchery showed Sunday he can be a viable No. 1 receiver in the absence of Laveranues Coles, and he needs to have another big game.

The Jets' improving defense won't have to deal with Kansas City RB Larry Johnson (broken foot), who is done for the season. And it's possible that QB Damon Huard (11 TD passes, 13 interceptions) might start in place of injured Brodie Croyle (hand), who was limited in practice Wednesday...FULL STORY

Herm Edwards is Cursed!
I am starting to wonder if maybe when NE coach Bill Belichick made his deal with the devil, someone had to pay. I think it is Herm Edwards. Herm says the right things, tries to do the right things, recognizes talent, but is just snake bitten no matter what he does. We all know about the injury carousel in NY when he was head coach of the Jets, now we are seeing an almost eerie similarity in KC
