The Washington Redskins kept
their playoff hopes alive and
put a little doubt into the New
York Giants' once seemingly
certain road to the postseason.
Clinton Portis ran for 126
yards and a touchdown and Todd
Collins led the Redskins on five
scoring drives in his first
start in 10 years, outplaying
Eli Manning in a 22-10 victory.
The win was the second
straight for the Redskins (7-7)
and it moved them within a
half-game of Minnesota for a
wild-card berth. The Vikings
(7-6) play the Chicago Bears on
Monday night, before meeting the
Redskins in Minnesota next
week...

REDSKINS: The Giants
just want to keep on keepin' on.
They're 9-2 since an 0-2 start.
Their running game has been
formidable with Brandon Jacobs
and the now-injured Derrick
Ward. Other than a four-INT
stinker three weeks ago at
Minnesota, QB Eli Manning has
been solid. WRs Plaxico Burress
and Amani Toomer and TE Jeremy
Shockey all have at least 50
catches, 600 yards and three
TDs. Washington's 11th-ranked
defense hasn't faced an offense
this good since the 28-23 loss
to Dallas on Nov. 18.
The Redskins would like to
take pressure off QB Todd
Collins in his first start in 10
years by running the ball.
However, their ground game has
stalled the last month so the
line will have to give Collins
time to find red-hot TE Chris
Cooley as well as WRs Santana
Moss and Antwaan Randle El in
what could be a wintry, windy
night...

GIANTS: The Giants will
flaunt their complicated defense
against a QB who has seldom
played, 13-year veteran Todd
Collins. "It is very difficult
for a guy to see a complicated
defense from the sidelines and
on tape and then be able to step
in and know all the little
things about it," says coach Tom
Coughlin. "I think Collins is a
very special quarterback but he
hasn't thrown more than a pass
or two in the last several
years."
Thus it is the Giants' goal
to confuse him with their
layered pass rush and
multi-positional use of several
players, and if that works then
his natural QB skills will not
be used to their best advantage.
They expect several sacks caused
by coverage...FULL
