Postgame Recaps, Storylines,
and News |
With a spot in the postseason on
the line, the Titans were not
about to let another game
against an AFC West opponent
slip from their grasp.
A week after blowing a
two-touchdown lead against the
Chargers, the Titans rallied in
the second half to beat the
Chiefs 26-17 and stay alive in
the AFC wild card hunt.
Vince Young passed for 191
yards and two touchdowns, both
to Roydell Williams, and Rob
Bironas kicked four field goals
as the Titans (8-6) bounced back
from a poor fourth-quarter
performance against the
Chargers.
The Chiefs (4-10), who lost
their seventh straight game
since starting the season 4-3,
closed out their worst home
season in 30 years...FULL

TITANS:
The Titans like to stop the run
and rush the passer with their
front four. Kansas City, with
the NFL's second-worst offense,
could be an ideal opponent.
Larry Johnson is out, and rookie
replacement RB Kolby Smith is
banged up. QB Brodie Croyle has
been sacked 14 times in three
starts and appearances in three
other games.
Offensively, this should be
the first real cold-weather game
where LenDale White can show he
can play winter football the way
Jeff Fisher likes. The Titans
need to find easy completions
for Vince Young to help him
regain confidence. Kansas City
is good defensively on third
down, which could be a big
problem...FULL

CHIEFS: The Chiefs, who
were gashed for 215 rushing
yards last week against Denver,
simply have to be better against
Titans RBs LenDale White and
Chris Brown. They haven't faced
a true scrambler like QB Vince
Young this year, either, and
keeping him from getting free
will be a problem. Keeping Young
in the pocket and confusing him
with coverages is their best
course of action.
Offensively, the Chiefs are
down to few options with a
grounded running game that
produced only 17 rushing yards
last week against Denver's awful
rushing defense. Dink and dunk
is probably the best way for
Brodie Croyle to survive the
rush of Kyle Vanden Bosch and
Albert Haynesworth. Dwayne Bowe
must do a better job catching
the ball to keep the pressure
off Tony Gonzalez...FULL
