The Patriots didn't dominate the
Jets as many would have
expected, but New England still
came away with a comfortable win
to stay perfect.
Facing rain, wind and chilly
gusts above 20 mph, Tom Brady
had his worst game of the
season. He failed to throw a
touchdown pass and totaled just
140 yards through the air.
With the win, New England
clinched home-field advantage
throughout the AFC playoffs. The
Patriots remaining games are at
home against Miami and at the
New York Giants...

JETS:
The Jets need to put more
pressure on Tom Brady than they
did in the first meeting, when
he completed 22 of 28 passes and
wasn't sacked once. They likely
will double-team WR Randy Moss,
but that could leave them
vulnerable to WR Wes Welker, who
had a touchdown reception in the
season opener against New York.
On offense, the Jets need to run
the ball effectively to
alleviate some of the pressure
on QB Kellen Clemens. Bill
Belichick's schemes have
confused many veteran
quarterbacks, and Clemens could
have a tough time in only his
seventh NFL start...FULL

PATRIOTS:
The Patriots offense should be
able to do anything it wants in
this game. The Jets are terrible
when it comes to defending the
run and aren't much better
against the pass. That's a
problem when facing an offense
that's on the verge of setting
the league's scoring record.
Laurence Maroney has a chance to
have his biggest day on the
ground this season. Meanwhile,
Tom Brady will be able to sit
back in the pocket and hit Wes
Welker, Randy Moss and Donte'
Stallworth all game long. It's
up to the Patriots to decide if
they want the Jets to die a slow
death or a quick one. The only
thing that's certain is New
England will move the ball on
the Jets defense...FULL

The punishment is in and it appears that the league has decided that cheating the rules which has happened for a long time in the NFL is going to carry some serious consequences. New England coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for spying on an opponent's defensive signals. The commissioner also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't. If the Patriots lose their first-rounder next season they still will have a first-round pick, obtained from San Francisco in the deal that brought Moss from Oakland.
