Bengals ground out a win against
struggling Rams 19-10
|
Postgame Recaps, Storylines,
and News |
Playing through a cold, driving
rain, the Bengals stayed
grounded against a Rams team
accustomed to playing in a dome
and sporting a rookie QB.
Cincinnati dominated every
facet of the game except getting
the ball into the end zone.
Despite racking up 192 yards
rushing, the Bengals had to
settle for four Shayne Graham
field goals as they converted
just one of four chances in the
red zone. That allowed St. Louis
to stay within striking distance
most of the game.
The Bengals defense allowed
just three points and 10 first
downs against Rams
third-stringer Brock Berlin, who
turned in a solid debut except
for a late interception that
sealed the defeat...FULL

RAMS:
Keep Marc Bulger upright,
assuming he plays. The Bengals
have only 18 sacks this season,
so the offensive line will be
looking to protect Bulger and
produce better in the running
game, where Steven Jackson has
been stuffed too many times in
recent week.
Defensively, with CB Tye Hill
out, look for some creativity
from defensive coordinator Jim
Haslett, who will try to create
some pressure on QB Carson
Palmer. Despite having some
issues on the offensive line
this season, Palmer has been
sacked only 16 times...FULL

BENGALS: The improving
Bengals defense will face a
tough test against a dynamic
Rams offense that has
quarterback Marc Bulger back and
running Steven Jackson hitting
stride. The Bengals will be at
home, where they are 3-3.
The Bengals need to try to
make the Rams one-dimensional
offensively and need to run the
ball with Rudi Johnson, Kenny
Watson and DeDe Dorsey to take
some of the pressure off Carson
Palmer and the pass offense.
Like the Arizona game, which the
Bengals lost 35-27 on Nov. 18,
this game could go in any
direction...FULL
