The Denver Broncos manhandled
the Kansas City Chiefs 41-7
Sunday, finally playing like the
contender they fancied
themselves after an offseason
spending spree produced a roster
that looked like a fantasy
owner's dream.
Jay Cutler threw a
career-best four touchdown
passes, Selvin Young rushed for
a career-high 156 yards on 17
carries and Elvis Dumervil
collected three sacks and forced
a fumble that led to a touchdown
as the Broncos overwhelmed the
Chiefs (4-9).
It probably won't matter,
however. The Broncos (6-7)
remain two games behind San
Diego in the AFC West with three
to go following the Chargers'
come-from-behind win in
Tennessee.

CHIEFS:
Kansas City needs to run the
ball against Denver's woeful run
defense to take some pressure
off young QB Brodie Croyle. Of
course, the Chiefs also said
that in the first meeting, when
they were quarterbacked by Damon
Huard, and they managed only 67
rushing yards then.
Kansas City needs to force an
eighth defender into the box to
give Croyle some chances
downfield to Tony Gonzalez or
Dwayne Bowe. Kansas City has to
eliminate the killer turnovers,
two of which produced 14 points
for Denver in a 1 1/2-minute
juncture of the Broncos' win in
Kansas City...FULL

BRONCOS: In the first
meeting between the teams, the
Broncos forced turnovers, got
pressure on the quarterback and
limited Kansas City's
playmakers. TE Tony Gonzalez was
especially quiet, with three
catches for 29 yards. The Chiefs
will make adjustments, but the
Broncos have to perform well in
the same areas to win again.
RB Selvin Young had 109 yards
against Kansas City a few weeks
ago, and QB Jay Cutler managed
the game well. The roles could
be reversed, with Cutler and the
passing game carrying most of
the load. That's because the
Broncos are beat up at tailback
heading into this week's game...FULL
