The Patriots came into their
game with the Eagles as huge
favorites, but Philly wouldn't
go down without a fight, taking
a lead into the fourth quarter.
A Laurence Maroney touchdown run
put the Pats ahead for good.
Wes Welker had a career game,
catching 13 balls for 149 yards,
while Tom Brady threw for 380
yards and one touchdown - his
first game with less than three
touchdown passes this season.
A.J. Feeley kept the Eagles
in the game with 345 yards and
three touchdowns through the air
in his first start since 2004.
Three interceptions, though -
including two late in the fourth
quarter - did the Eagles in.

EAGLES: The key to the
Eagles' defensive game plan
Sunday will be getting pressure
on QB Tom Brady. They're not
likely to be able to do that
with a four-man rush. So they'll
probably send five after him
frequently and drop six back
into coverage...more
PATRIOTS: Getting
pressure on Donovan McNabb
shouldn't be too much of a
problem for the Patriots
considering that every good
defense the Eagles have faced
this season has been able to get
heat on McNabb. Offensive
tackles William Thomas and Jon
Runyan have had their problems
with speed rushers, so Mike
Vrabel, Rosevelt Colvin and
Jarvis Green should see a lot of
time in the Eagles backfield.
McNabb has never been the most
accurate quarterback and he
really gets flustered when he's
forced to move around in the
pocket. The Eagles receivers
don't scare anyone, so Asante
Samuel and Ellis Hobbs will be
able to lock up on them, while
the pass rushers get pressure
off the edge...more

There was a palpable expectation of history here on a chilly night in the Arizona desert. Super Bowl XLII delivered on that score, but history of a different sort was made on Sunday...
The Patriots rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Giants 38-35 on Saturday and became the first team in NFL history to go 16-0 in the regular season...
The punishment is in and it appears that the league has decided that cheating the rules which has happened for a long time in the NFL is going to carry some serious consequences. New England coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for spying on an opponent's defensive signals. The commissioner also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't. If the Patriots lose their first-rounder next season they still will have a first-round pick, obtained from San Francisco in the deal that brought Moss from Oakland.
