Leftwich struggles, Bucs' offense rolls
31-7 to take hold of NFC South lead

Recaps |
Falcons coach Bobby Petrino may
want to rethink his decision to
start Byron Leftwich at
quarterback against the Bucs on
Sunday.
Leftwich threw two
interceptions, including one
that was returned for a
touchdown, and the Bucs got a
pair of touchdown passes from
Jeff Garcia in a 31-7 win.
Leftwich, who also fumbled
twice, was benched late in the
third quarter in favor of Joey
Harrington. Harrington had led
Atlanta (3-7) to two straight
wins before Petrino decided to
shuffle the deck.
With the win, and losses by
New Orleans and Carolina, Tampa
Bay (6-4) grabbed a two-game
lead in the NFC South with six
games to play.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers'
resurgence has lifted them into
first place in the mediocre NFC
South. With their division foes
pushing for the top spot,
though, the Bucs can't afford to
be satisfied. Following their
bye week, the Buccaneers look to
stay alone in first place Sunday
when they visit the Atlanta
Falcons, who are suddenly back
in the playoff chase. After
finishing last in the NFC South
with a 4-12 record - the
franchise's worst since 1991 -
last season, Tampa Bay (5-4)
surpassed its victory total from
2006 with a 17-10 win over
Arizona on Nov.
