This week, it was ten yards and
two dropped passes that kept the
49ers out of the win column as
the Rams did just enough to
record their second straight
victory.
Trailing 13-6 with less than
three minutes left, San
Francisco receivers dropped
consecutive Trent Dilfer passes
in the end zone and coach Mike
Nolan called for a field goal on
fourth down and 10 as the 49ers
extended their touchdown drought
to 10 quarters.
The Rams reached the end zone
on their opening drive but
mustered little else. After
handcuffing surprise starter
Dilfer for three quarters, a
shaky St. Louis prevent defense
nearly allowed a 49er comeback.
