Adam Vinatieri's right foot
didn't betray him this time.
The Colts had Peyton Manning
take a knee on successive snaps
inside the Kansas City 10
yardline to set Vinatieri up for
a 24-yard field goal with three
seconds to play. It was the 21st
game-winning kick of Vinatieri's
career, and it came one week
after he missed a field goal
that would have beaten the
Chargers.
The kick enabled the Colts to
snap a two-game losing streak
and overcome a less-than-stellar
game from their quarterback.
Peyton Manning started the day 4
of 13 passing with one
interception, and finished 16 of
32 for 163 yards and no TDs.
The Chiefs (4-6), playing
without injured running back
Larry Johnson, were limited to
Dwayne Bowe's third-quarter
touchdown reception, a
controversial catch that Colts
coach Tony Dungy unsuccessfully
appealed.
