In a wild finish, officials decide Dawson kick ties game before
33-30 OT victory
|
Game Storylines and
Recaps |
Just when it looked like the
Browns were going to blow
another lead and lose another
game, they got a lucky bounce
against the Ravens.
First, officials determined
that Phil Dawson's game-tying
51-yard field goal attempt on
the last play of regulation --
which hit the upright and then
tapped the crossbar before
bouncing back onto the field --
was good. Then Dawson connected
from 33 yards out in overtime to
give the Cleveland (6-4) a
thrilling 33-30 win.
The Browns, who blew a lead
against the Steelers the week
before, led the Ravens 27-14
before Kyle Boller and the
Baltimore offense caught fire in
the fourth quarter. The Ravens
(4-6) pulled ahead 30-27 on Matt
Stover's 47-yard field goal with
1:23 left.

The Baltimore Ravens hope a
quarterback change can turn
around their fortunes. One
already has for the Cleveland
Browns. The Ravens go back to
Kyle Boller while the Browns
hope Derek Anderson rebounds
from a subpar performance when
these AFC North rivals face off
Sunday in Baltimore. Only one
game separates Cleveland (5-4)
and Baltimore (4-5), but the gap
feels much wider given the
opposite directions these teams
appear to be heading. After a
4-12 season last year, the
Browns have found new life
behind Anderson, who took over
as the starter in Week 2 and is
fourth in the NFL with 20
touchdown passes...more
