Broncos punish hapless Chiefs
offense 27-11For most of
Sunday's game, the Broncos
harassed Chiefs quarterback
Damon Huard. They weren't much
kinder to his replacement,
Brodie Croyle.
Sparked by an aggressive
defense, Denver scored two
touchdowns in a 9-second span of
the third quarter en route to a
27-11 win over the punchless
Chiefs (4-5), who played without
running back Larry Johnson and
are unsettled at quarterback.
The injury-plagued Broncos
(4-5), who were without three
starters of their own, got four
turnovers to go with 109 yards
rushing from backup Selvin
Young. The game turned on
consecutive series in the third
quarter when the Broncos scored
after a Huard interception and
the defense returned a Huard
fumble for a touchdown.
