Fox Sports: A day that
was supposed to be reserved for
19-0 turned into a Giant upset,
as New York stunned New England
to win Super Bowl XLII.
Trailing late into the fourth
quarter, Eli Manning drove the
Giants 83 yards down the field,
and tossed the game-winning
touchdown pass to Plaxico
Burress with 35 seconds left in
the Super Bowl. Manning was
named MVP of the game after
going 19-of-34 for 255 yards,
two touchdowns and one
interception.
Tom Brady was sacked five
times, and hit throughout the
game by the Giants defense. He
finished 29-of-48 for 266 yards
and a touchdown. The Patriots
finished the season 18-1,
failing to become just the
second team to cap an undefeated
season with a Super Bowl win...FULL

Fox Sports Giants Update:
QB Eli Manning, in his fourth
season, has obviously turned a
corner. He now "gets it,"
according to several of the
offensive players, and he is
managing the game without
endangering the Giants' chances
by committing turnovers. He
hasn't thrown an interception in
the playoffs, and seems to have
found his new confidence in a
sparkling four-touchdown passing
night in the 38-35 loss to New
England on the final game of the
regular season. He is utilizing
WR Plaxico Burress for long
passes and veteran WR Amani
Toomer for medium-range. The
loss through injury of veteran
TE Jeremy Shockey has created an
opportunity for 6-7, 265-pound
rookie Kevin Boss (fifth round)
and he has come up with key
catches in pressure
situations...FULL

Patriots Update: Tom Brady
was flawless in a playoff
victory over Jacksonville,
setting an NFL record for
completion percentage in a game.
However, he struggled against
the Chargers in the AFC title
game, with many of his passes
off target. Randy Moss has
disappeared in the post season
but Kevin Faulk and Wes Welker
have stepped up, combining for
31 receptions. The offensive
line continues to do an
excellent job. The running game
has been a strength of late. RB
Laurence Maroney has topped the
100-yard mark in both playoff
games. The ground attack took
charge against San Diego and
picked up the slack for the
struggling Brady, who appeared
to have a hard time planting on
his injured ankle...FULL
