The Super Bowl almost has to be anticlimactic. This game had it all as Peyton Manning exercised his demons in Montana like fashion with a comeback and a final drive that will be remembered for as long as the game is played. Manning put on a show as he rallied the Colts from 18 points down and drove them 80 yards to win the game in the final minutes of the game 38-34.

Print cannot begin to do this game justice as it featured the rivalry, the legacy, the comeback from 18 points down, the back and forth scoring, then the drive to finally take the lead for the first time at the 1:00 mark, followed by a drive that ended in an interception of Brady by Marlin Jackson to finally end the game and thwart New England's own comeback attempt.

Thank goodness I don't have to try to get this game down to a 90 second highlight package for Television. I pity the poor sports director who has to choose what to cut from this game.

There was history made all around and now history will be made again as Tony Dungy and the Colts will face the Chicago Bears and his good friend Lovie Smith in Miami in two weeks. Together they are the first black coaches to make the Super Bowl in its 41 years.

If you do nothing else this week set your recorders to catch this game as it is replayed on NFL network. It's one for the archives.

Sportsnetwork Recap: The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning are finally headed to the Super Bowl after exorcising the demon known as the New England Patriots with a 38-34 victory in the AFC Championship Game at the RCA Dome. Manning and the Colts had been eliminated from the playoffs by the Patriots twice in the previous three years, falling in the AFC Championship Game after the 2003 season and losing in the divisional playoffs after the 2004 campaign. The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl both times, but the Colts finally got the better of them and will play in the Super Bowl for the first time since winning it after the 1970 season when the franchise was located in Baltimore...more

Fox Sports Recap:  A comeback, a drive, a legacy. And yes - finally - Peyton Manning gets his Super Bowl trip, too. Football's most prolific quarterback put on a show for the ages Sunday, rallying the Indianapolis Colts from 18 points down and driving them 80 yards for the winning score in a wildly entertaining 38-34 victory over the New England Patriots. In his nine years in the league, Manning has never played in a game like this AFC championship contest...more
