2009 NFL Draft Top Players - Jason Smith

7

Jason Smith

OT

6'5"

305

Baylor

Jason Smith is the most physical of the tackles, he may not quite be as good as Monroe has the potential to be, but he does not have the physical problems that Monroe does. He has three years of starting experience at tackle for Baylor after starting his collegiate career as a TE. Jason excelled at the combine, he did 33 reps on the bench, had a 24" vertical jump, an 8' broad jump, ran a 7.53 3-cone drill and a 4.69 20yd shuttle.

Smith is a former tight end and started four seasons on offensive line, totaling 38 career starts.

His draft slotting is very high as Smith is a raw prospect at this time compared to some of the other left tackles in this draft.. However his potential is unlimited and He has made significant improvement in terms of technique and strength over the past two years at left tackle.
