2009 NFL Draft Top Players - Brian Orakpo

Brian Orakpo

DE

6'3"

255

Texas

Most would call Orakpo the best DE in the nation, he may be better suited to be a rush linebacker at the next level. Orakpo makes a lot of plays along and behind the line of scrimmage. Orakpo is not an elite athlete and gets by on his intensity, smarts, and heart. He plays a lot like Jared Allen and may well be that kind of NFL end who is not great against the run, but is a force rushing the passer.

Orakpo is still very much an NFL ready defensive end. He is 6-3 and 255 pounds and a great athlete who can power or finesse his way into the backfield. He bench presses 515 pounds and squats 600. Those are some pretty impressive numbers for a player who is not considered an elite athlete.

The consensus seems to be that Orakpo will go fifth overall to the Browns. Some members of the Cleveland organization were in Austin recently for private workouts and it is hard to believe that they did not like what they saw
