New Orleans Saints 2008 NFL Draft and
Free Agency Team Needs
The top needs for the Saints to fill
in the upcoming draft and free agency.
Cornerback: The Saints
struggled all season against the pass, especially with the deep ball, and a
top-flight corner would certainly help. Kevin Kaesviharn, who should be
starting at free safety, was starting at corner. Randall Gay will help, but
is not a star.
Linebacker: Strong-side
linebacker Scott Fujita is solid, but the Saints will look to bring in some
new blood for the middle or weak-side through free agency or the draft
really a middle linebacker to build around would be perfect. Hoopefully
Vilma will return to his early jets form.
Nose Tackle – A
powerful run-stuffing huge defensive tackle who can collapse the pocket is
needed to be groomed to replace Hollis Thomas, who is 33 years old
Defensive Tackle – A
quick powerful defensive tackle who can rush the passer and defend the run
is needed to groom as a future replacement for Brian Young who is 30 years
old
Center: Jeff Faine was
an unheralded performer in the pivot for them but he left for a huge free
agent deal with the Bucs
