 2008 Team Needs

Miami Dolphins 2008 NFL Draft and Free Agency Team Needs

The top needs for every NFL team to fill in the upcoming draft and free agency.

The Dolphins need help all over the place, and at the top of the draft look for them to try to trade out for more picks as the top player is not the answer. That defense is quickly getting very long in the tooth and they are going to have to be very active to get younger before they completely fall apart on that side of the ball as well as on offense.

Quarterback: Parcells will not risk his tenure on John Beck's shoulders, so look for him to search far and wide for a replacement, either in the draft with Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan, or a reliable veteran on the market such as Chad Pennington

Defensive tackle: The Dolphins were the worst team in the league against the run, and an aging Keith Traylor was the prime reason, he is already gone, but His backup, rookie Paul Soliai, was even worse if that is possible. So, if Parcells can overlook LSU's Glenn Dorsey's injury-prone history, he could be wearing a Dolphins uniform next season. Vonnie Holliday is on the downside as well so they have to find some help.

Defensive End: The Dolphins still had Jason Taylor, but at 33 how long can he last? Once again they have to find someone to groom as his replacement.

Tight end:  Parcells loves tight ends, so look for them to snag Notre Dame's John Carlson, whose college coach, Charlie Weis, could give good his good friend — Parcells — the inside word. Missouri's Martin Rucker or Texas A&M's Martellus Bennett would also be solid additions in the later rounds.

Cornerback: The Dolphins do not have anyone on their roster who can be considered a number one cornerback

Offensive Tackle: L.J. Shelton and his top backup at right tackle were shown the door, so they are going to have to get some help here for sure.

Strong Safety — The Dolphins need a head-hunting safety who can also cover to put fear into opposing wideouts and tight ends as they go deep

Linebackers: Lets see Joey Porter looked old and Zach Thomas IS old and gone, they have to get some help at linebacker in the worst way.

Wide Receiver: Marty Booker isn't getting any younger, and the already-departed Chris Chambers needs to be replaced
