Atlanta Falcons 2008 NFL Draft and
Free Agency Team Needs The top needs for the Falcons to fill
in the upcoming draft and free agency.
Offensive line: LT
Wayne Gandy was already a cap casualty. RT Todd Weiner had knee surgery that
could threaten his availability this season. Michigan's Jake Long could be
up. Atlanta might use the majority of its picks along the offensive line. At
least one potential starter could be acquired along the OL in free agency
Quarterback: The
Falcons are expected to draft a prospect within the first two rounds but
building a line to protect him seems like the top priority. Joey Harrington,
or more likely Chris Redman could be the caretaker until the upstart (Matt
Ryan, Chad Henne, Brian Brohm) is ready. A veteran free agent could still be
signed as well.
Safety: Chris
Cocker could leave and if Lawyer Milloy stays he will be playing his final
season. The Falcons signed free-agent defensive backs Erik Coleman and Von
Hutchins already and should add one more through the draft.
Wide Receiver: Roddy
White showed flashes of talent in 2007, but Joe Horn is well past his prime
and they really don't have anyone else of note on the roster other than
Michael Jenkins.
