SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS NFL DRAFT RECAP
Kentwan Balmer came on strong and the 49ers needed an inside presence at NT. So Balmer is a fit, regardless of what you will hear from others, it is hard to find a real NT.  Not quite a steal but good value here in building the strength of a team already oriented toward defense. Chilo Rachal could start at G immediately which is all you ask of a second rounder. DB Reggie Smith could play CB or S and should slide in at nickel at the least. Not an exciting draft, but an ok one.

Ballmer is a hustle player who makes plays and is a terrific run stopper. Exceptionally talented but a risky prospect who is a boom or bust type as he didn't really start to show on his tremendous talent until this last year.

Video: Balmer credits Butch Davis and his coaching staff for helping him become one of the most coveted defensive linemen
