2008 NFL Draft Notes:
March 19th,
2008
We don't have the numbers yet,
but LB Dan
Connor had a monster work out yesterday at Penn State's pro
day.
We also are hearing that CB Justin King had a great workout and the
Steelers coaches met with him and it went very well.
QB Matt Ryan, completed 48 of his
52 attempts, with three drops in his workout at BC's pro day. Chiefs coach
Herm Edwards was quoted as thinking Ryan was pressing a little, but seemed
very impressed overall.
University of Florida C
Drew Miller was impressive during his Pro Day. He completed 34
repetitions on the 225-pounch bench press
Syracuse LB Jameel McClain
has a private workout scheduled with the Philadelphia Eagles for either
April 9 or April 10
University of Florida DL
Derrick Harvey has a private workout scheduled with the New York Jets
WR Andre Caldwell worked out at his school's Pro Day
Tuesday. Caldwell had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and completed 18
repetitions on the 225-pound bench press

UCLA FB/RB, Michael Pitre, signed with NFL player agent Mike Abadir of
SAPROS Sports Management today, thereby making himself available for the
2008 NFL Draft. Pitre's decision comes in light of news that his petition to
come back to UCLA for a 6th season was declined. The two-time All Pac-10
selection FB played a big role in UCLA's offensive production, particularly
when he was teamed up with backfield mate, Maurice Jones-Drew
The Raiders are expected to trade their
second-round pick in next month's NFL draft for DeAngelo Hall, a two-time
All-Pro. On Monday, ESPN's Chis Mortensen reported
The Bills have scheduled a meeting with
Michigan State University wideout Devin Thomas, who is among the top five
wideouts coming out of the upcoming NFL draft
The Denver Broncos on Monday acquired the
Houston Texans' sixth-round choice in the 2008 NFL Draft in exchange for
center Chris Myers
Boston College becomes the center of the NFL universe today.
At least two head coaches, five general managers, and five directors of
player personnel are scheduled to attend the Eagles' annual Pro Day. In all,
about 25 of the league's 32 teams are planning to have representatives in
attendance, from executives, to scouts, to coaches as Matt Ryan has his pro
day. All eyes will be on Ryan, who did not throw passes at last month's NFL
combine, saying he wanted to work out in familiar conditions and with
players with whom he has a background.
The Green Bay
Packers were the NFL's youngest team
each of the past two seasons and could
be again. They're adhering to a
philosophy that keeps them out of free
agency and the acquisition of pricey
veterans.
They haven't signed a single player since free agency
began Feb. 29 and lost the only one they picked up last year — cornerback
Frank Walker. With Walker, 26, moving on and quarterback Brett Favre, 38,
retired, the Packers' average age should come down once they add players in
the draft
