Safety -
Brian
Dawkins will turn thirty-four
during the 2007 season, and
depth is nearly nonexistent at
the secondary position.
Defensive End - Jevon
Kearse is constantly injured,
and Darren Howard has been
inconsistent. A pass rush
specialist to complement Trent
Cole would fit.
Linebacker -
A young
middle linebacker will also help
solidify the position for the
future, if Omar Gaither is not
the answer the team is looking
for. Also, additional help at
the outside linebacker spot will
help since the position isn’t as
strong as it once was,
Dhani Jones is a non-impact
player, and someone with more
ability would help this defense.
Offensive Tackle - Could
use a little depth with Runyan
and Thomas near the end of their
careers.
Cornerback - Philly needs
to add depth behind Shepherd and
Brown.
Running Back - Correll
Buckhalter is average at best.
Philly would benefit from
finding a better runner to pair
with Brian Westbrook.
Philadelphia Eagles Free Agency
Notes:
Jeff Garcia was willing to
return as a backup to Donovan
McNabb for less than market
value, for some reason the
Eagles didn't even want to talk
to him. The Eagles are
comfortable with J. Feeley as
backup.
They will try to re-sign
Stallworth, but won't overpay
because he's been prone to
injuries. If Stallworth doesn't
return, adding a playmaking
receiver becomes a priority.
They also need at least one
starting linebacker, a power
running back to complement Brian
Westbrook, more depth on the
defensive line, a nickel
cornerback, a safety and a
returner with game-breaking
skills.
