Outside Linebacker -
The oldest starter
at the position is twenty-seven
year old Nick Greisen, so the
team may be patient and wait for
the unit to continue to mesh and
develop together, but
Jacksonville has needed to add a
playmaking linebacker for years,
but they just refuse to do it.
With the two great defensive
tackles they have, this team
would greatly benefit from a
playmaker at the linebacker
spot.
Defensive End - Bobby
McCray has performed well, but a
pass rusher on the other side
would be a nice addition.
Safety - Donovan Darius
is getting up there in age and
will be coming off a serious
ankle injury. Deon Grant is
nothing special. A playmaker at
the safety spot would be a nice
addition.
Offensive Guard - Some
young depth wouldn't be bad to
build the line for the future,
but that's true for almost every
team.
Right guard Chris
Naeole, will turn thirty-three
next season. The rest of the
group is fairly young and
talented.
Jacksonville Jaguars Free Agency
Notes:
The biggest immediate need is
at safety because Grant is a
free agent and Donovin Darius is
recovering from a leg injury.
Jaguars could look at Ken Hamlin
of Seattle, Tony Parrish of
Dallas or Shaun Williams of
Carolina, but they probably
won't move as quickly as they
did the last two years, when
they signed DE Reggie Hayward
(2005) and CB Brian Williams
(2006) in the opening days of
free agency. Team probably will
try to retain Gray, McCray,
Scobee and Wilford. Also look
for Jags to sign a speedy
receiver.
UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:
TE Kyle Brady; LB Tony Gilbert;
FS Deon Grant; WR Cortez Hankton;
RB LaBrandon Toefield; DE
Marcellus Wiley; DT Tony
Williams.
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS:
CB Ahmad Carroll; LB Jorge
Cordova; QB Quinn Gray; TE Brian
Jones; DEs Bobby McCray and
Elton Patterson; PK Josh Scobee;
WR Ernest Wilford
