Indianapolis Colts Team Needs - 2007 NFL Draft and Free Agency
 Sponsors

Defensive Tackle - Indy's struggles against the run are well-documented, and much of it is the fault of a light and soft defensive line. Anthony McFarland just hasn't worked out, and a big run stuffer is desperately needed.

Linebacker - Gilbert Gardener is currently starting, which is never a good sign. Depth is needed in the middle as well, to avoid having to play Rob Morris ever again. The biggest need will be upgrade at outside linebacker, and they may need more than one OLB if former Pro Bowler Cato June leaves. Look for the Colts to look towards the draft for young LB that they can groom and will fit their system

Offensive Line The offensive line is not a position of significant need, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the future, and the team will look to add young depth to a solid unit that backslid a little last year

Safety - Bob Sanders is a stud, but the other safety spot is still up-in-the-air.

Wide Receiver - Brandon Stokley has ran into serious injury issues, and this offense needs a third option at receiver to run at full force.

Indianapolis Colts Free Agency Notes:

DE Dwight Freeney was made a franchise player.

The Colts, as usual, are not expected to be a big player in free agency. But they're looking to solidify several spots. Both starting cornerbacks, David and Harper, and both starting guards, Lilja and Scott, could be signed away, although only Harper is unrestricted.

Since Dominic Rhodes will likely depart via free agency, it may be wise for the Colts to pick up a veteran back via free agency to help continue the development of Joe Addai and be able to step in, in case of injury

Mike Doss is also an unrestricted free agent and is not expected to return in 2007. If the Colts can't keep Doss, look for the them to take a young safety early, or possibly look to the free agent market to replace him

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: LBs Rocky Boiman, Cato June and Rob Morris; CB Nick Harper; DT Dan Klecko; S Mike Doss; WRs Aaron Moorehead, Ricky Proehl and Terrence Wilkins; RBs Dominic Rhodes and James Mungro.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: CB Jason David; LB Gilbert Gardner; Gs Jake Scott and Ryan Lilja; DEs Josh Thomas and Bo Schobel; QB Jim Sorgi; TE Ben Utecht.
