Free Safety - It's
unbelievable that Dallas didn't
make a serious attempt to
address this position last
off-season. They've had a
carousel of guys at the spot
this year, all of which have
been disasters. This has
seriously affected Roy Williams'
play, as his poor pass coverage
skills have been exploited time
and time again. Dallas' defense
should be a lot better than it
is, and the free safety position
is the single biggest factor
inhibiting it from reaching that
potential.
Offensive Line -
Right
guard Marco Rivera will be 35
when next season gets here and
Kyle Kosier may not be the
permanent answer at left guard.
At least one guard needs
to be brought in. We're still
not sure if Marc Colombo is a
legitimate starter. It couldn't
hurt to bring in a young guy to
backup him and fellow tackle
Flozell Adams.
Wide Receiver - The
present chance of TO returning
to Big D next year is less than
50% with his 3 million dollar
roster bonus. Terry Glenn is due
a $5 million roster bonus. and
Patrick Crayton is a restricted
free agent.
The
position isn’t a dire need, but
Owens’ situation is an immense
factor in regards to what the
Cowboys will ultimately do on
the market
Quarterback - The
Cowboys will likely cut Drew
Bledsoe rather than pay him a $1
million roster bonus so they
will be in the market for a
backup to Romo.
Dallas Cowboys Free Agency
Notes:
Wade Phillips could use some
playmakers the front of 3-4
defense, primarily a
quarterback-crunching end. He
also could use help in the
secondary, primarily at safety
but possibly at cornerback if
starter Anthony Henry is moved
to safety.
OL a never-ending concern,
even after giving center Andre
Gurode a $10 million signing
bonus. The Cowboys also will be
after veteran quarterback to
back up Tony Romo. Maybe the new
backup can hold, too.
