Defensive Tackle -
Bringing in Sam Adams was a nice
move, but he obviously can't be
counted on, on a week to week
basis and they need a young, run
stuffer.
Outside Linebacker - With
David Pollack's career over and
Odell Thurman likely to end up
in jail, Cincy needs to start
over at the outside linebacker
position.
Safety - A little depth
at this position wouldn't hurt.
Dexter Jackson turned it around
after a slow start, but the
other safety spot is a little
questionable.
Offensive Line - Cincy is
a little thin in the middle of
the line. If the Bengals let
Eric Steinbach walk via free
agency they will have a big hole
to fill in their line.
Veteran
tackle Willie Anderson is aging
as well, although he should have
some gas left in the tank
Tight End - The Bengals'
system doesn't really use the
tight end much and
Reggie
Kelly is a serviceable tight
end, and a fair enough blocker,
but a receiving option at this
spot would help take some
attention off of the talented
wide receivers that Palmer
targets.
Cincinnati Bengals Free Agency
Notes:
The Bengals need a
cornerback, Tory James played
poorly last season and is a free
agent, while Deltha O'Neal also
struggled. They also need a
linebacker after David Pollack's
career has been threatened by
neck injury and Odell Thurman is
still suspended by NFL. Plus
safety, defensive line depth (DT
Sam Adams had knee/weight
problems), offensive line depth
(C Rich Braham has retired,
Steinbach is a free agent), and
backup quarterback.
