Linebacker - Hunter
Hillenmeyer is still starting,
which confuses me to no end. I
guess he's a good fit for the
defense, but with studs like
Urlacher and Briggs in the
linebacking corps, why not make
it a trifecta by bringing in
someone with more talent?
Briggs has
been highly successful alongside
Brian Urlacher, and if the team
is unable to sign him to an
extension, there will be a large
hole to fill at the position.
Quarterback - Rex
Grossman looked as fragile
mentally as he was physically.
We'll see how he recovers, but
right now it looks like he may
not be the long term solution.
Offensive line -
Ruben
Brown will be thirty-five and
right tackle Fred Miller will be
thirty-four in February. Not
only is age a concern, but the
starting unit is supported by
very little depth. Depth
at all positions has become a
bit of an issue for Chicago.
Safety - Mike Brown has
battled injuries and Todd
Johnson is below average.
Danieal Manning has worked out
great, but depth for the
oft-injured Mike Brown would be
nice
Chicago Bears Free Agency
Notes:
Lance Briggs was made franchise
player and could be a training
camp holdout. Bears could use
free agency to shore up aging
offensive line, but are not
expected to make a big splash.
Secondary also could use some
depth after injuries to Mike
Brown the last several years.
They are not going after a
quarterback like Jeff Garcia
despite Rex Grossman's
inconsistent play because Brian
Griese is quality backup. They
are interested in re-signing
Brown
