San Francisco 49ers Draft Recap - 2007 NFL Draft
Nine picks and Darrell Jackson make for a very good draft haul. Nabbing Jackson was a major score, giving the 49ers a player with the ability to be a No. 1 wideout. Piling that on top of linebacker Patrick Willis and offensive tackle Joe Staley, and the 49ers added talent fast. Willis could be the next great middle linebacker in the NFL. And Staley has the athleticism to be a top tackle if he's developed properly. He's a good player, but was he worth the picks?

Overall Grade A

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 11 Patrick Willis ILB Mississippi
 Analysis
Willis is a highly athletic, talented player who offers superb versatility. Willis was a top ten talent. 49er fans have to love this pick, he was the best player available and he filled a need. Willis should be defensive rookie of the year in 2007

Overall Value: 1  Pick Value: 1  Bust factor: 2

1 28 Joe Staley OT Central Michigan
 Analysis
Joe Staley started as a tight end at Central Michigan four years ago and grew into an offensive tackle. He has improved by leaps and bounds, and he's a steal at this point. He can step in and play left tackle and start this year. The 49ers gave up a lot to get him so he better be very good.

Overall Value: 2  Pick Value: 2  Bust factor: 4

3 76 Jason Hill WR Washington State
 Analysis
A speed merchant that can catch the ball and score touchdowns. Ran a 4.32 second 40 at the combine

3 97 Ray McDonald DT Florida
 Analysis
McDonald (6-3 3/8, 276; 4.86) is strong, he’s quick, but he’s had a lot of injuries and he’s a little undersized.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 104 Jay Moore DE Nebraska
 Analysis
A lot of people are projecting Moore (6-5, 276) to be an OLB in a 3-4 defense. He could play with a hand on the ground or in space.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 126 Dashon Goldson FS Washington
 Analysis
Goldson (6-2, 205; 4.60) played cornerback at Washington, but people think he can be an NFL safety.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
4 135 Joe Cohen DT Florida
 Analysis
Cohen (6-4 1/2, 313; 5.10) was a backup to Marcus Thomas, and when Thomas was suspended, Cohen became a starter.

5 147 Tarell Brown CB Texas
 Analysis
He's got some skills and he’s fast. Once he realizes that football is his livelihood and straightens himself out, the 49ers will have themselves a pretty good starting cornerback.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
6 186 Thomas Clayton RB Kansas State
 Analysis
Clayton (5-10 1/4, 218; 4.63) was productive at Kansas State. He probably will be a backup running back in the NFL.
