San Diego Chargers Draft Recap - 2007 NFL Draft
Craig Davis is a serious burner who gives the Chargers an immediate deep threat. The Chargers took a lot of criticism for giving up so much to move up and grab Eric Weddle, but he has first round talent and he instantly fills a huge hole for the Chargers he figures to start right away, which is pretty significant when you're going to a title-contending team. Third-round pick Anthony Waters, a linebacker from Clemson, could be a huge steal. He missed almost all of 2006 with a torn ACL, but he's expected to be healthy when camp opens.

Overall Grade: B-

Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 30 Craig Davis WR Louisiana State
 Analysis
He has had a lot of minor injuries, but he is a slot receiver. This is kind of a strange pick, almost everyone had Anthony Gonzalez, Dwayne Jarrett, Sidney Rice and Steve Smith ranked higher, but the Chargers went with the speedy Davis

Overall Value: 4  Pick Value: 4  Bust factor: 4

2 37 Eric Weddle SS Utah
Analysis
He can play corner, safety, special teams and return kicks and punts.  Had 19 INTs in college but unbelievably he also had 10 sacks.  He had 22 tackles for loss from the safety position and occasionally from corner. There can be some interesting schemes used with him.

3 96 Anthony Waters ILB Clemson
 Analysis
Waters (6-2 5/8, 245; 4.60) tore his knee up and had ACL surgery this past year or he would have gone higher. When healthy he is a high second round or late first round talent.

4 129 Scott Chandler TE Iowa
 Analysis
He’s huge (6-7, 270) and he ran under 4.8. He has got very good hands. He has to improve his blocking since at Iowa he was used as more of a 4th wide receiver.

5 172 Legedu Naanee WR Boise State
 Analysis
A workout wonder at the Combine; he ran 4.41 and his vertical jump was over 40 inches. He could be special.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
7 240 Brandon Siler ILB Florida
Analysis
He should have gone a lot earlier than this. For 2007, he will be a special-teamer and a backup LB.
